User agreement

Sorry for shouting, but this is really important. We'll do everything we can to keep your keepsakes safe, and to prevent even a single pixel from ever getting lost. This is what we do, and this is the undertaking we make to every single Keeper, including yourself. However, in the unlikely event of data being lost or corrupted, for whatever reason, such loss will not be compensated.

We'll store your keepsakes forever (we are presently planning for at least a hundered years), or until you cancel the service. If the Keep It Forever service is discontinued, we promise to return all your keepsakes to you. Should this happen, we will notify you at least one month in advance.. To make it possible to keep this promise, we need you to make sure that your registered email address is always kept up to date. This is also why it's a good idea to give us your mobile number when you register - so that we have an additional way to reach you. Again, we'll do our best to return your keepsakes to you, but if that isn't possible for any reason, such loss will not be compensated.

Photos stored by Keep It Forever are compressed automatically to a maximum size of 3 megapixels: suitable for viewing and printing, but not as a backup utility for high-resolution photos. You retain all the rights and ownership to your stored content and we will not use it for any purpose. We will only do what you tell us to do. In case you're curious: We use encrypted Amazon S3 Cloud Storage to store your data.

The contact information you provide will only be used to let you know about service updates or new services - preferably by email. You are not for sale! If you activate automatic account deletion or make a will for your keepsakes in our "Life after death" service, it is your responsibility to keep your contact information up to date, as well as your recipients' contact information, and to respond to our emails to avoid unintended account deletion or the inadvertent passing on of your keepsakes. As mentioned above, it is our mission and wholehearted obligation to fulfil your will and to avoid data loss or errors, but any loss or error, for whatever reason, will not be compensated. If you make a will for your keepsakes, it is your responsibility to evaluate what is appropriate to pass on to your recipients. Our intention with this service is to enable you to pass on keepsakes of emotional or historical value in a respectful way.

When you enter the Keep It Forever website, we collect your browser type and IP address. This information is gathered for all Keep It Forever visitors. In addition, we store certain information from your browser using "cookies". A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user. We use session ID cookies to confirm that users are logged in. These cookies terminate once the user closes the browser.

On your side, you agree to be nice and never to store anything on Keep It Forever that violates national or international laws. If you break this agreement, or use the service in an inappropriate or unfriendly manner, including storing amounts of data beyond what might be regarded as normal, with liberal interpretation of the term, we retain the right to limit your access to the service. That being said, we encourage everyone to use the service to its fullest, and to fill their boxes to the brim with wonderful keepsakes!

Our lawyer told us to tell you that we will not be liable for any loss you might have due to how our service works or does not work. Should a court for some reason decide that we are liable, the accumulated liability for all claims during a calendar year is limited to the fees we receive from you during that calendar year.

This is a mutual agreement and you're bound by its terms when you accept the user agreement. Any dispute or legal claim will be resolved here in Norway, by the Norwegian court system. We live in a beautiful and peaceful place. Please come to visit, preferably with friendly intentions.

With love, Keep It Forever
